Vallejo's 95th-Minute Equaliser Rescues FC Goa and Denies Sporting Club Delhi a First ISL Win

Sporting Club Delhi were about five minutes of stoppage time away from their first win of the 2026-27 Indian Super League season on Wednesday night. Then FC Goa defender Álex Vallejo attacked a free-kick in the 95th minute at the Fatorda Stadium and turned the ball in for a 1-1 draw.

The point keeps Goa from a home defeat, but the way the game went will worry the hosts more than it comforts them. They had most of the ball and most of the chances, and they needed a set piece in the last move of the match to avoid losing to a side that had not won all season.

Goa's chances, Delhi's goalkeeper

Goa started brightly. Samsanga slid a chance just wide of the far post in the eighth minute, and in the 19th he thought he had scored after Francisco Feuillassier played him through, only for the flag to go up for offside. Muhammed Nemil then lifted a shot over the bar in the 37th minute after making space for himself in the final third. The half ended goalless.

The pattern continued after the break. Early in the second half Nemil found Feuillassier inside the six-yard box, but Delhi goalkeeper Nora Fernandes got down to block. That save turned out to be the hinge of the night.

Delhi score on the counter

Within minutes Delhi went up the other end. In the 52nd minute Rodrigunho carried the ball forward on a quick break and set up Juan Pena, who finished with his right foot to give the visitors the lead.

Goa spent the closing stages pushing men forward in search of a reply. The pressure grew in stoppage time. In the first added minute a Delhi defensive slip gave Vallejo the ball, but his cross found Chiki, who missed the target.

The equaliser finally came from a dead ball. Feuillassier swung a free-kick into the box in the fifth minute of added time, and Vallejo timed his run ahead of the goalkeeper to make it 1-1. The final whistle went soon after.

What it means for both sides

For Sporting Club Delhi, the result stings. A first win would have given the club something to build on early in the campaign, and they held a disciplined shape for more than 40 minutes after taking the lead. Fernandes, Pena and Rodrigunho can take credit, but conceding from a set piece in the final seconds is the kind of lapse coaches tend to dwell on.

For FC Goa, the draw is a let-off. Their best first-half moments came to nothing, one through an offside call and others through finishing, and it took Feuillassier's delivery from a dead ball to create the decisive chance. Dropping two points at home against a side still looking for its first win is a result Goa will want to put right quickly.

The 95th-minute timing of Vallejo's goal means the night will be remembered more for the escape than for the performance, by both sets of supporters.
