Wipro Expands Google Cloud Partnership to Scale Agentic AI
Wipro announced an expansion of its partnership with Google Cloud aimed at accelerating enterprise-wide adoption of Gemini Enterprise and agentic artificial intelligence, sending its shares higher in Friday's trading session and adding to the momentum behind Indian IT stocks this week.
Scaling AI across the workforce
As part of the expanded alliance, Wipro plans to scale internal deployment of Gemini Enterprise and equip more than 10,000 AI-certified specialists with advanced capabilities tied to the platform. Within that group, the company is building a dedicated team of over 1,500 Forward Deployed Engineers who will combine Google Cloud's technical expertise with Wipro's own consulting and engineering strengths to support enterprise clients adopting AI at scale.
The company has also launched what it calls the LIFT framework, an acronym for Launch-Ignite-Flywheel-Transform, designed to help enterprise clients move through the stages of AI adoption in a more structured way. The framework integrates Gemini Enterprise with Wipro's existing AI delivery platforms, described internally as WINGS and WEGA, into what the company positions as a unified ecosystem spanning everything from basic task automation to fully autonomous, multi-step AI agents embedded in core business workflows.
From pilots to production
A recurring challenge for large enterprises experimenting with generative and agentic AI has been moving beyond isolated pilots toward systems that can be trusted with real operational responsibility. Wipro said its expanded partnership is meant to address exactly that gap, citing early use cases spanning compliance monitoring, human resources processes and sales intelligence where autonomous agents are being deployed to handle multi-step tasks rather than simple query-response interactions.
The company has additionally integrated Google's Antigravity command-line interface tool into its software engineering workflows, aimed at supporting developers through planning, coding, testing and modernisation of existing applications. Wipro said this shift has already contributed to productivity gains in custom application development and a reduction in defects identified after software goes into production.
Market and business context
Wipro's stock rose more than 2 per cent following the announcement, part of a broader rally in Indian IT shares on Friday that was also fuelled by strong quarterly results from Nvidia, which lifted global sentiment toward AI-linked technology spending. Wipro's American depositary receipts had also moved sharply higher in the prior session on the back of the partnership news.
The announcement comes shortly after Wipro reported first-quarter results for the current fiscal year, with revenue of nearly Rs 24,500 crore, up close to 11 per cent year-on-year, though net profit growth was more muted and IT services revenue slipped slightly on a sequential basis. Against that backdrop, doubling down on AI-linked service lines is a strategic priority for Wipro and its India-based IT services peers, all of which are competing to demonstrate to global enterprise clients that they can deliver measurable value from generative and agentic AI rather than experimental pilots. The deepened Google Cloud tie-up positions Wipro to compete more directly with rivals that have struck similar hyperscaler partnerships in recent quarters.
