Harmanpreet's unbeaten 91 powers India to 92-run win and 3-0 sweep of Zimbabwe
India completed a clean sweep of their three-match women's T20I series against Zimbabwe on Tuesday, crushing the visitors by 92 runs in Raipur. Harmanpreet Kaur's unbeaten 91 off 41 balls carried India to 216 for 7, and Zimbabwe were held to 124 for 7 in reply. With the series already secured after the second match (see our earlier coverage), the dead rubber turned into India's biggest home win by runs in women's T20 internationals.
Harmanpreet and Shafali set up the total
India chose to bat after winning the toss. Opener Anushka Sharma made a brisk 28 before falling at the end of the powerplay, but Shafali Verma kept attacking from the other end and reached her half-century in 26 balls, her ninth T20I fifty of 2026. She went on to 69 off 37 balls with six fours and five sixes.
Harmanpreet arrived at 69 for 2 in the eighth over and quickly took charge. The pair added 84 for the third wicket before Shafali fell in the 15th over, after which the former captain accelerated further, finishing with 10 fours and five sixes at a strike rate above 220. Wickets fell around her in the final overs as the lower order swung for the boundary, but the total was well out of Zimbabwe's reach. Beloved Biza was the most successful Zimbabwe bowler with 3 for 50.
Zimbabwe show some fight before Nandani closes it out
Zimbabwe's chase began badly, with Kelis Ndhlovu out to the first ball and a second wicket following in the next over. Sharne Mayers (60) and Biza (44) then put together a partnership worth 82, the visitors' best phase of the series. Their stand came at roughly a run a ball, though, at a time when the required rate was above 10, so the target kept slipping away.
Nandani Sharma was India's best bowler with 3 for 18, including two wickets in the final over. Niki Prasad, Deepti Sharma, Kranti Gaud and Arundhati Reddy took one wicket each.
What India take from the series
The 3-0 result was never really in doubt against a side ranked well below India, but the series still served a purpose. The opening match, where India recovered from 22 for 4, tested the middle order; the second showcased the Shafali-Smriti Mandhana opening pair; and the third gave Harmanpreet, playing under Mandhana's captaincy, a long innings at No. 4. India also used the final game to hand a spot to Prema Rawat while resting spinner Sree Charani.
For Zimbabwe, the 92-run defeat ranks among their five heaviest T20I losses by runs. Both teams now turn to the ODI leg of the tour.
