Deep-Tech Startup Zenergize Raises Rs 33.5 Crore to Scale EV Charger Production

Zenergize Technologies, an Indian deep-tech startup building indigenous power electronics, has raised nearly Rs 33.5 crore in a pre-Series A funding round, as the company looks to scale up manufacturing of its electric vehicle chargers and solar inverter platforms.

Details of the round

The round, structured as a mix of equity and venture debt, was led by Giraffe Studios, which increased its existing stake in the company. Several strategic individual investors also participated, including Nikhil Sawhney of Triveni Turbine, Varun Agarwal of Ellenbarrie Industrial Gases, Shyam Bagri of Bagrry's Holdings, and Raoul Bajaj of Trafigura, alongside a group of angel investors with backgrounds in logistics, banking and corporate leadership. With this round, Zenergize has raised a cumulative Rs 50.5 crore since its founding, having previously closed a Rs 17 crore seed round.

What the company does

Founded by alumni of IIT and IIM, Zenergize develops silicon carbide (SiC)-based power electronics, positioning itself in a niche but strategically important segment of India's clean-energy supply chain. The company says it has built the country's first indigenous SiC-based DC fast charger and solar inverter platforms, technology that until recently has been dominated by imported components in India's EV charging infrastructure buildout. Its chargers carry automotive certifications, and its solar inverters hold BIS certification, both important markers for commercial deployment at scale.

Where the money will go

Zenergize plans to deploy the fresh capital toward expanding manufacturing capacity, strengthening its engineering team, growing its nationwide service and sales network, and accelerating research and development. The company is also focused on building the operational capabilities needed to serve large enterprise customers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), a segment that typically demands higher reliability and after-sales support than retail buyers.

Scale and ambitions

The company has already reached an annual revenue run rate of around Rs 30 crore and has built an order book exceeding Rs 150 crore within just a year of commercialisation, a pace of early traction that likely contributed to investor interest in the round. With the new funding, Zenergize is targeting an annual revenue run rate of more than Rs 100 crore in its next growth phase.

Why it matters for India's EV push

India's electric vehicle ecosystem has faced persistent bottlenecks in domestic manufacturing of high-performance power electronics, with much of the underlying semiconductor and component technology historically imported. Homegrown SiC-based charging technology, if it can be manufactured reliably at scale, could help reduce that import dependence while supporting the government's broader push for local manufacturing under initiatives aimed at strengthening India's clean-energy and EV supply chains. As the EV charging infrastructure market continues to expand alongside rising electric vehicle adoption across India, deep-tech manufacturers like Zenergize are likely to remain an area of continued investor interest.
